In African culture griots were responsible for sharing history and stories of the culture and family. In this modern day of social media and click bait, it is important to remember the tradition that refused to erase the past.
The intent of this site is to spur dialogue and recognize the culture, experiences and influences of the black community. To highlight and consider how to dismantle institutional and systemic racism. To celebrate the contributions of the black community, the stones that built the the structures and. share the impact, stories and experiencs of the diverse community.
In San Francisco, we must work together to build inclusive communities , and share the full stories of the people. We can not continue to let the disparate numbers tell the story or let the oppressor’s narrative be the only story told. We must understand the power of our stories, our lives , our history and our future.
