Crucial Conversation

Dear BWRADV Community,

We regret to inform you that our February event featuring Angela Lee, Director of love is respect, has been canceled for the foreseeable future. “Like many US DV/SA organizations receiving federal funds, the National Domestic Violence Hotline has been impacted by recent executive orders and agency changes, disrupting vital services for survivors.” This challenge underscores the urgent need for advocacy—please contact your political leaders to protect funding for these life-saving programs!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, a crucial time to reflect and empower young people with tools for building healthy, respectful relationships. In a rapidly evolving world that presents technological shifts and challenges to several rights, it’s essential that we come together to support youth and their safety.

In response, we are excited to present a powerful Crucial Conversation with frontline advocates in the community:

  • Angellynn Tam, Youth IPV Prevention Coordinator, Asian Women’s Shelter

  • Sophie Reichert, Family Advocate-Teen Program, La Casa de las Madres

  • Taylor Stommel, Black Women Revolt Against DV

  • Moderated by Makayla Bell, YAC & Advisory Board Member, Black Women Revolt Against DV

Event Details:
Date: Wednesday, February 19, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (PST)
Join via Zoom: bit.ly/February-CC

Please note that this discussion may cover sensitive topics related to dating violence and abuse, which could be triggering for some attendees.

This conversation will explore strategies to support youth advocacy, promote healthy relationships, and prevent dating violence. We look forward to having you join this important dialogue!
