Storytelling is a gift from the enslaved ancestors, the ability to share history, experiences, culture, and values has been passed down through the generations. We are all storytellers, whether we call ourselves a griot, Akewi, singer, rapper or writer, we have the ability to tell our own stories. Beyond educating others through our stories, writing can be a healing process for the writer.
