ABOUT

Megaliths are defined as large stones forming the foundation of a structure. Black people serve as the foundation of economies, culture, innovation and knowledge. MegaBlack SF celebrates and recognizes the contributions of Black people in the San Francisco Bay Area. Black people are not monolithic, but megalithic, demonstrated in songs born in the heart and soul of our history and forming the foundation of music from gospel to opera, Leontyne Price, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. We are megalithic in our movements and quest for social justice. Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Angela Davis are the architects of the civil rights movement and modern day efforts like Black Lives Matter.

We are MegaBlack SF, fighting for visibility, sovereignty, dignity and justice for Black San Franciscans.

OUR PILLARS ARE:

  • Economic power

  • Equitable and restorative investments in public education for Black students

  • Land for our businesses, cultural events, and wealth building opportunities

  • Consequences for anti-Blackness, from discrimination on the job to police violence against Black people

  • Housing and an end to the displacement of Black people from San Francisco

  • Reparations

  • Black Business Empowerment

WE ARE MEgalithic. We are MegaBlack SF.
